Loud Squeaking In Front-End

I Have a 96 Thunderbird that has a loud squeaking noise that is coming from the front end.I had 300.00 worth of work done to it when I was told that it was strut rod bushings. This did not fix the problem. It does not matter which way I turn the wheel but is worse when I turn it right. This noise is driving me crazy and like to get it fixed.Does anyone have an idea what could be causing this.
Thanks,
Birdman96

Re: Loud Squeaking In Front-End

Does it squeak when you push down on the bumper to make the front end bounce up and down or is it a power steering squeal when you turn the wheel?

Actually it sounds more like a popping sound. It just does it when you turn the wheel left or right. It does not make the noise when you bounce it up or down. It's not in the power steering.Any help is greatly appreciated.

I would go back to where you had the work done and complain that what they said would cure the problem didn't and that you want them to either fix the problem and/or adjust your bill. Stand in font of the car with the hood open and have someone turn the wheel back and forth to try to find where the noise is coming from.Doing this on gravel won't put such a strain on your power steering.

sounds like ball joints to me--reach in over top of your front tire and put your hand on top of the upper ball joints--you will probably find a serious vibration in one or both of the from the socket binding ffrom lack of lube/rust build up----if you dont find it there(i would be VERY suprised) check the lower ball joint in the same manner
