2002 jetta radio woes

Help! I just bought a 2002 Jetta but the manual is not available. The radio is on a safe mode. I do have the code number but could not activate it. I need assistance if anybody knows the steps.

Get the radio serial #, car VIN # & see a VW service advisor with about $30 in your hand.
