95 New Yorker wheel squeeks

My front left wheel has started to squeak. It squeaks off and on but if you put on the brake it stops. Could there be something in the wheel or what could be the problem?

Re: 95 New Yorker wheel squeeks

several things could be wrong, there's the possibility that you have bad wheel bearings. The next possibility is that you have a warped rotor and it's so badly out of round, that everytime it hits against the caliper it makes a sound, but that usually is accompanied by a pulsating brake pedal, which I don't think you have b/c you have not mentioned that. For now, check out your wheel bearings.

Just to add, it could also be the wear sensor on the brake pads contacting the rotor, this usually happens when the brake pads are worn to their service limits and need replaced.
