its not illegal to mod your car, but some mods are illegal to do.

people who mod their cars are.....into cars.... and almost anything can be modded, from sports cars to vans.

dont know 'bout BC, I'm down in Chi-town...

I dont think there is one person or group that started it, modding cars has been around for a long ass time.

Yea its our hobby, thats and love of cars + the need for speed, thats my we mod.

Most things are bought over the net or at local "speed shops"

Some people import cars, but mostly people just stick to what is sold in the country.

You need to know your way around under the hood to mod your car, like anything though you can teach yourself, just start small; maybe an intake for starters, I wouldnt jump in on a turbo install for your 1st attempt.

Yea the aftermarket is a great buisness, the key is you just have to have an innovative product (like any buisness). As long as there are cars there will be a market for aftermarket parts.

Good luck man, like I said I dont know jack about BC, but some of these ideas are universal.

DUMBASS!!! For starts HTML is not enabled, so who looks like a dumbass now? Second, not everyone has "local races" i live in a small city and we do not. Next, does your local shop provide all that information? Cause mine certainly wouldn't. Please refrain from making posts that don't contribute to the thread...

Now back on topic: NB8CT pretty much covered it, as for the origin, i'd seach on the internet (http://www.google.com), the history may be floating around their somewhere, good luck with your project.

Is it illegal to mod ure cars? Well that depends on what mods you do and where you live, but for the most part no.

What kind of ppl mod there car.........and what kind of cars? All kinds of people mod all kinds of cars.

When did this whole modifying cars started in BC (British Columbia)?? That I don't know.

Who started it? I have no idea. Modding cars has been around for a LONG time.

Why do ppl mod their cars?............ (is it becasue it is their hobbies)
Yep. It is a hobby, plus I mod because I like speed and I like driving around in a fine looking car.

Where do u get ure products? Either the dealerships or XTR racing, a local shop in Orem.

Do u just mod cars that r from the local area or do u do international business? Local, but they do order plenty of parts from Japan.

Is there any skillz needed to mod cars? A lot of you are doing it yourself. You have to be a pretty good mechanic to mod a car so that you can tune it properly and install/modify anything. But to me it is a lot of fun.

Do u think that modifying cars is a good industry? Oh yeah.

Thumbs up New to forum but not racing

As to your question of where it originated if im not to late, it was introduced, not started on the east coast by a group of young asian americans and since then it has spread west getting more and more popular and unfortunatly being brought into the publics eye. Because of this, any asshole with money (your usual got a be cool yuppy) is out their having pros building their cars without an inkling on anything thats going into their car or how to race it. How many times have i heard of one of these yuppies redlining their car and blowing their engine in a month because they dont even now when to shift. Anyways, im not sure when it was introduced but again, east coast by a group of young asian americans.

Re: Help SCHOOL PROJECT

to ask before i attempt to mod my car!

-is it illegal to mod ure cars?
depends, what state/country, what mods.

-what kind of ppl mod there car.........and what kind of cars?
people who cant be fucked saving for a more expensive car so they spend as they get there money instead of waiting 20 years, or they want to be original, or wants to beat a more expensive car to see the look on there face and to have a laugh, or they want there car to look fast even though it isnt. or they love there car so much they want to make the most out of it.

-When did this whole modifying cars started in BC (British Columbia)??
think back, when was the 1st time you wondered wtf that bumble bee sound was comming down your street or behind you at the lights.

-Who started it?
either the japs or john travolta.

-Why do ppl mod their cars?............ (is it becasue it is their hobbies)
because they want there cars to look/sound better or go faster
-where do u get ure products?
car performace shops
-do u just mod cars that r from the local area or do u do international business?
i like to make random trips to tokyo to help out incase they need special parts from australia.

-is there any skillz needed to mod cars?
you gotta know what you want to do to the car, its a good idea if you have a basic knowledge of modding cars.

-do u think that modifying cars is a good industry?
yes
