95 cavalier 3 speed trany slipping! nooo

hey on my 95 cavalier my transmission is slipping it just started today it never slipped befor it always shifted extreamly good and always slammed into gear but now when i was on the highway i floored it and it was bouncing of the limiter in drive and wouldent upshift and finally it did after about 2 min. so i dont know whats wrong.... i checked my trany fluid and there is this black shit in my tranny fluid.... is this a major problem or a clogged transmission filter or what?

so...... i dont think i quite understand this, lets say your driving along doing, oh, lets say 45mph, and you floor it, it obviosly shifts into a different gear for more throttle response, well when you let off the accelerator it just stays in that gear and doesnt shift back??????????

Re: 95 cavalier 3 speed trany slipping! nooo

no ok when i floor it when it goes to down shift it goes in nutral and red lines for a sec than drops down a gear.... and when i was putting it in reverse today it took like 4 sec for it to go in gear

ok basicly it takes 5 times longer to shift into a different gear

I would definitly do a tranny flush and filter and quick its worth roughly 100 dollars but if you dont your more then likely looking at a bill of 3000 dollars or upward of that to replace that tranny until i did that if i was you i would drive the car using the upmost care and caution trust me man dont beat it
