99 taurus

Found a 99 ford taurus with 62K miles on it, and the vulcan engine. Is this a decent car to purchase used? I know it has been maintained by local ford dealer, driven by my wifes grandmother gently since new. Its I believe an LX, but with all power options and cruise control. Car looks flawless inside and out, always garaged, not driven much in winter either. I'm nearly positive its got the weaker of the two transmissions. If I get this car, I need it to run up to 100K miles before the tranny dumps. I'm not planning on racing, and drive gently (I have too, I've been driving a stratus the past 3 years and they're trannies are probably just as soft). What should I look for in a test drive to clue me that this car is at the end of its low maintenance life?? Appreciate any feedback

Re: 99 taurus

it should be a good car and if the transmission has been properly serviced and you keep maintaining the car well, it should make it to 100k.
