turbocharger
I know this is probably going to sound real dumb to most of you guys, but I don't know a lot about turbochargers so I'm going to ask anyway. I've been looking on the internet for the past week and I can't find a turbocharger for my 2004 V6 Mustang. I know some people will probably say that I shouldn't waste my time on a V6, but I'm probably going to anyway. I was wondering where in the world I can get a turbocharger for it? Is there some other turbocharger for another car that could fit on my engine? Sorry if that sounds dumb, I just don't know much about turbochargers.

hey its not stupid to build up a V6
theres a performance shop near me that specializes in making custom turbo kits and they have a shop car thats a 1995 ford probe that makes 500 WHP so go for it u could get a turbo off of ebay but the pipes may be hard to find! if ur close to WI u could have them custom make em but they need your car |

So could I buy a turbocharger not even made for my car and as long as I had the right size pipes to hook it up to my engine I could use it?

yes but its gonan depend on what u all want to do to ur car...if ur gonna build the engine get a bigger one but if u just wanan run on a stock motor then eget a smaller one and u will also need to run diff plugs and sometype of a fuel management system to safely run on just the stock motor

Thanks man, I really appreciate the help. One last question, where does it hook up to? I know you use exhaust gases to turn the turbine, but how do I hook the exhaust up to it? And where do I hook it up to put the compressed air into the engine?

wow u need to do ALOT of research.....this is a huge project to do on your own man....
your going to have to bring both exhaust banks together 2 th eup pipe on the turbo then you have to run a down pipe which is the exhuast out and back to run out the car then u go from the compressor side into the intake! its a huge project, your going to need a welder lots of pipe, mainly U bends which are expensive, a good saw and a lot of patience |

I'm REALLY sorry about this but one more question, what do you mean by both exhaust banks? ALL of the exhaust coming from the cylinders into one pipe, then into the turbocharger? Then out again through one pipe? After this I'm pretty sure I'm done with all the dumb questions, I do REALLY appreciate this.

But what about my air intake, if the turbocharger replaces the air intake, wouldn't I have a smaller amount of air going into the engine when I'm not going very fast and not producing a lot of exhaust?

Go to www.howstuffworks.com and read up on turbocharging, it will explain it.
To answer your question, the turbo will not impede the incoming air at all.

Okay, I've been looking at the air intake, seeing how this could be done, and I noticed what I think is a vacuum hose connecting to the plastic pipe running into the intake manifold, this will have to go when I install the turbocharger. What can I do with the vacuum hose?

Yeah Vitas you have to remember that even though you may have a smaller air filter or air inlet, the air is going to be forced in with all that pressure. As for you Sky....I bow to you, you are the Mustang God, you know your stuff. I'm pretty good with the basics(bolt-ons, some internal stuff)and I know what to do as far as using a good combo of parts to work together and all that stuff, but I saw that pic. of your engine, all I have to say is DAMN!!
