rattling interior
I just got my new system installed. Its 2 audiobahn AW1051Ts in a bandpass and a 1200 watt Soundstorm laboratories 2-channel amp. All I can say is, damn... this setup hammers. It makes the hood on my car flex when its turned up. This crazy amount of thump leads me to my problem, everything, and I mean EVERYTHING on my car rattles. The interior panels, pop-up cup holder (love that thing), door handles, spoiler, bump strips on the doors...well, you get the idea. Is there any way to get it to stop? My car is a '92 dx hatch. If you have any thought ,don't keep them to yoursely. Thanks, later...

The #1 thing on your car that rattles and sounds nasty from the outside is the licence plate. Take off the plate and line the back of it with a thin strip, about 3/16 thick, of weather stripping. Home Depot has it for like $2.99 for 20'. Also take that and line the bump strips on the doors. As for as the interior panels go, the only thing you can do is to buy some type of padding or sound dampening materials, to line the body of the car with, but that is a lot of $ and a lot of time.

Re: rattling interior
Thanks, now if we only had a home depot here...
You know of any way to sto the door handle from rattling so much. That's what I hear inside the most. I dont care how it sounds from the outside. Additionally, one of my friend said that if I put my subs in a sealed box, they'd sound better but wouldn't hit as hard. All I know is how not to blow a sub up, not how to make it sound good. Once again thanks for any help |

Re: rattling interior
dude, one thing is to turn down your music. i have subs too, and i love to listem to music really loud, but it is not good for your ears.
use sound deadening material, they have some carpet like stuff and foam that comes in a spray can. use it on all parts of your car and you should be ok |

Re: rattling interior
I recommend....Use extreme Dynamat. On the back of the License plate and under the panels on the hatch. Then buy some thick rubber waterproofing spray cans....at any auto store and spray a thin layer anywhere you want. I have found that is the best way to do it. I'm a fan of sealed boxes, but its your preference.

Re: rattling interior
There are primarily 3 types of boxes...Sealed, Ported, and Bandpass. THIS IS JUST MY OPINION, IT IS NOT BASED ON ANY TECHNICAL INFO.
1. Sealed boxes give a clean, tight like your first girlfriend bass. 2. Ported seems louder, but sacrifices actual bass quality. 3. Bandpass seems loud like Ported, and Resonates, which I think sounds like shit. At least with the bandpass boxes I have seen. |

Keep In Mind That Those Were Just My Opinions And For All You Haters Out There I Am Not Saying "you Suck" If You Have A Ported Or Bandpass Box.

Re: rattling interior
You're never going to get rid of the rattle. NO matter what you do to stop one thing from rattling, something else is going to. As soon as you stop one rattle, another quieter one shows up, and as soon as you stop that, another one shows up. It really sucks, my advice, do what everyone else said and then try and live with it.

Re: rattling interior
There will always be some kind of rattle, but basically you just reduce the most obvious annoying ones.
