Re: Mirror fluid

Gotta know if this "Fluid" is aftermarket or personally introduced. Electric mirrors don't have liquid......

Re: Mirror fluid

Kinda sounds like puss from a mirror infection to me. Maybe the truck needs some automotive antibitronics or something???

Re: Re: Mirror fluid

You know i think its at the auto parts store, right next to the blinker fluid, just above the muffler bearings. If im not mistaken its the same fluid that you use in your flux capacitor. As for cleaning off the dried fluid, you need 6 oz. of pixie dust

I've heard that that fluid in the auto dimming, outside mirror will stain the paint. I have no idea what it is, sorry.

Re: Mirror fluid

Auto dimming is two wires plugged to an electrically charged plate on the back side of the mirror....

Could the liqued have been projectiled from a body when the dry heavs came on and the body hit the mirror in the state of confusion?????

Re: Mirror fluid

My appologies!!! I did not intend to offend. What you might do is try contacting an auto body or paint shop and ask if the have an answer. If that doesn't work try your Chevy dealer and ask them. If nothing else, they'll be able to tell you if the mirror really does have some type of fluid in it and how to deal with it. If it does, there may be a need for them to deal with it for other reasons. Hope this helps!!!

Gentex uses its proprietary, solution-phase electrochromic technology. We sandwich an electrochromic gel between two pieces of glass, each of which has been treated with a transparent, electrically conductive coating, and one with a reflector. From the Gentex website.

This Gel is what is on his paint. Gentex is the maker of GM's Mirrors.

Re: Mirror fluid

That's too bad dude. I had no idea about the fluid in the mirrors. Learn something new everyday. Hope you find a way to clean it.

For all the assholes who decided to be dicks about the subject because they thought they knew everything there was to know about effing cars and can't even take the time to apologize....you oughtta be ashamed.

EZ does it now!!! No need to start name calling. I don't think anybody intended to be offensive, even though it may have been seen that way. Everyone here takes their rides seriously and yes it does bite to have that happen. You really don't need to be passing judgement on people you don't really know. We all contribute and I'm sure if asked, we'd help a person in need, even you!! Peace Bro!!!

Re: Mirror fluid

Call me what you will.... I asked questions and they may have seemed inapropriate but not intended that way. When I broke my signal mirror wide open in my '01 it never "Bled." That is why I asked for pictures and that was not returned.....
