Re: this web side is dead

I think the forum was killed because serious collectors are repulsed by the way people act in this forum, no class whatsoever. I think it's mostly because the forum members are generally very young.

yeas i think so 2. i m 33. my grand pa gave me my first car when i was 7. it was a 1/43 die cast car, that how it started for me lol.
i customise cars for about 15 years. a lot of u saw my work. some of my cars looks like show custom, some of them looks like the one u see on the street/meaning nothing crazy, wheels, minor stereo system.
and a lot of ppl here have no respest to others. they start complaining not enough tv's, wheels r to big ,too small. ok we know that we built our cars for ourselves, i saw a lot of models here not even worse to look at, but i never said anything because i respect other builders work, that's how they wanted their models to look like, and thats all good. or may be some one it's just a beginner. i respect that too.
sorry for the long story, but yes u all right i think thats what killed that forum.
i build a lot of cars since my lost one u all saw but some times i don't feel like showing them, because ppl here have no respect.
there is a difference between other builders personal opinion and disrespect.

ps, i m not from mazda forum, and i m using this pic only on this forum.

I drop by here every so often to see if anything has changed. Not much and not really. Its like has been said, most of the people here seem to be young. This is reflected by their interest. Every once in a while I'll still post something in hopes some of the folks that still frequent this site and appreciate my "replicas" may get a chance to see it. It appears by my last post even they have moved on. My suggestion, if your bored with this site, punch up "Die-cast Forums" in the search engine and find a new one...Or two; that more reflect your interest. As far as a critique I have no problem with them as long as they are constructive.

I really like your pic though. It'll probably get pulled here though. You know? Minors and all that.

Another reason many folks have left this forum is they can't understand what the heck is being written. Many of the posts resemble the ramblings of an unschooled 2nd grader.
Capitals and periods should be used. You know, the cues that indicate the beginning and endings of sentences?
An occasional typo, while not desired, is acceptable. But that run-on E-shorthand junk should be tossed for coherent dialog.
Complete thoughts would be nice when asking questions, or just comments for that matter.
While I would like to share some of my experience and encourage other builders, I don't waste much time trying to decipher poorly written posts. I presume many others have parted ways with this part of AF for the same reason.
While I have noticed a decline in communication skills and standards throughout the boards on the internet, this particular one is excessively dumbed down... - Mark

Re: this web side is dead

Scalemaster: Could this be due to lowering the bar in our school systems to the least common denominator. I noticed with my kids, when they were in school, research skills were not a priority. Now with my grand kids its even less. It really ground my gears when my kids came up to me and asked "what's this mean" or "how do I spell...." I'd hand them a dictionary. I do the same with the 3rd and 5th grader. 8 out of 10 times they come back just like my son did and say..."Its not in here.....#!^$%&$%$$^%#%#. IT'S AN UNABRIDGED DICTIONARY!!!!! IF IT'S ENGLISH IT'S IN THE FLIPP'N BOOK!!!!! My daughter finally realized the extent of my assistance and just got the dictionary out and looked it up. I don't know if the boy ever figured it out. The good thing about being able to research something is you don't necessarily have to remember it! You can look it back up. Some folks here may be from other countries and this may have some bearing on sentence structure. But I have to agree the English language as screwed up as it is in its proper form (like "DESERT" same spelling three meanings) is even worse when put in "Orwellian Easy Speak."

You got me on that one ClearHooter. I could only think of two meanings for desert. The dry arid place, and the action of leaving. I looked it up and only found two meanings listed. Care to enlighten me on a third?

If only it were limited to the kids. Many of the offenders are not much younger than I, and some are even older.

Being an international board I understand the language barrier, but after checking the profile of the writers, usually the most unreadable stuff comes from right here in the U.S.A. - Mark

Oh I suppose I find myself trying to make excuses.

Desert (Duh.zert) A due reward or penalty. That which is deserved.

Desert (Deh.zert) A dry , often sandy expanse devoid of vegitation.

Desert (Duh.zert) To leave or quit unlawfully.

Oddly enough the first definition could be used as a contridiction. A "reward" OR "penalty."

I've always said it was a screwed up language. But it makes for writing some great songs.

Guess I forgot that one. Thanks.
The important lesson is that I looked it up first. Lesson two is to go to the big dictionary instead of the little one on my desk next time...
Now I know why it's little, they left stuff out... - Mark

I agree with whats been said. I moderate this forum, but there is only so much I can do to boost the maturity in this forum. Unfortunately its the case. Whereas the Modeling forum is much, much more mature.

I'd agree that it has a higher maturity level, but I personally don't do many plastic kits, so what I do dosn't belong there.
Immaturity and Imagination go hand in hand, so in a way, we're all immature...some worse off than others...
