Tcc

I have a 1999 GA 3.4. I am geting error code P0742. The car is stalling sometimes in low gear. I believe that torque convertor clutch is sticking on and that is what is causing the problem. I have an alldata account but I can't find any instruction on howto replace the TCC. I did find that book say it is 4 hour job but does not give any instruction on how???

Re: Tcc

Hey phaderus, I think its in the transmission. And that sucks! THe code, PO742, is the TCC stuck. Some models hav it on top of the trany right below the air intake. It is strange that a 99' is already having trouble with the TCC. Do you ever shift the car manually? Try shifting up and down through the gears as you take off and as you stop. This might free up the stick(ing) Tcc.

Every GA i've had except my 99 and 01 has had this go out. I think mine go out because I regularly shift up and down, not always but more than anyone I know. XI
