amp..

I'm getting 2 audiobahn flame Q subwoofers (1100 watt rms each). I'm looking at this amp http://www.cardiscountstereos.com/ca...t+%23=A1X400HQ Only 800 watt rms, but they dont have to run at max watts. I just want them to bump lol. Will this amp work well enough, or do someone have something else in mind? Looking for something under 250...

You will be really pushed to run a lot of power to those subs for that amt. of $. Remember too, its 800 Watts total divided by 2 subs = 400 watts RMS per sub, something to consider. I suggest finding a good used MTX 81000D. 1500 watts RMS=750/sub all day every day it will deliver that power. Also the AMP on that link is "rack mount" for DJ boxes, not designed for cars.

the mtx81000d is 1500watts at 2ohms. The mtx 81000d is also 1ohm stable from what i've heard. You would have to brigde it down to get more power. i believe crutchfield has wiring diagrams to show how to do this.

You cannot bridge the amp cuz it is a mono channel amp. And why would you want more power than that. 1500 watts or 750 watts/sub is huge. You can run 95% of the highest quality subs on the market off that.

Even though the amp is a mono it has 2 sets for speaker wires. To get the amp to 2ohm would be how you wire your subs. You can run more than 1 sub off a mono amp.

I'm not going to get rid of my JL 500/1, I found out its a badass amp..This guys got 8 JL W3 15s hooked up to 2 of them, and damn. So I think it will be fine hooked up to 2 Audiobahn AW1200N's.

Mono amps are bridged internally. They have 2 sets of speakers outputs for ease of wiring.

BTW: I have not come across an Audiobahn that isn't overrated. I used to have 2 Audiobahn subs and an Audiobahn 800 watt amp. I blew both the subs and no it wasn't clipping, distorting or anything. They simply couldn't take the power. Audiobahn amps are okay, there is better out there for the price, but Audiobahn subs are crap.

Yeah audiobahn subs are definately overrated, I found this out the hard way. Thats why I'm getting the 1200Ns, 700 watt rms each. I'm only going to push about half that to each sub, so hopefully I wont blow them.

Re: amp..

alot of power isn't really even necessary unless you're trying to do somethin competition wise, cuz a little goes a long way as far as sub wattage....

Re: amp..

Goes a long way into clipping, distorting and blowing either your subs or amp. It's a better idea to overpower your subs and keep the gain down than underpowering them and driving them into clipping and/or distortion.
