Question 2000 Dakota SLT cold start...dies

Greetings all,

I have a 2000 Dakota SLT with about 38000 miles. When I first start it for the day, the engine idles and slowly starts to die, then suddenly jumps in idle speed and runs fine for the rest of the day. Occasionaly the idle will drop low enough and the engine will die. The engine restarts noi problem. I am thinking dirty or bad EGR valve...Any ideas?

Ken

He mentioned that it's an SLT so it has a V8 in it. Being a 2000 it has a 318 in it.

Noooo... Being a 2000 it came with a 4.7. The 5.2(318) was dropped after 1999 production.

If it's a Dakota the 5.2 was dropped. I'm telling you I got a 4.7 in my 2000 Dak, first year run.
