Turbo VS. Supercharger

I'm looking to force some air into my engine and i'm wondering which will do more for my 2000 tib 2.0. turbocharger or supercharger? i've heard that turbo's have a "lag" when acceleration, and i've also heard that superchargers don't "kick-in" until higher RPM's. who has had luck with either and what kind of input can you give me? i've found systems for about the same price so i'm just wondering what kind of power differences i'm going to get and who's had sucesses with turbo's and likewise with blowers. right now i'm looking into a blower just because according to some sources turbo's need a little more maintenance.

Blah yea turbos have lag, but they still give a hell of a boost, and superchargers kick in RIGHT away they have no lag at all.

not totally true.. some s/c's have "lag" it depends on teh type of s/c...
the saying used to be: the larger the turbo the larger the lag, but with new technology coming out, thats not so true anymore...

anywho i would turbo the snot out of your BETA1.. its a great platform and can really handle high HP on the stock block...

the people that had problems were because of fuel issues.

the only out of the box supercharger for our rd tibs is the alpine one. the highest hp ive ever seen out of it is 199whp, from a person over in england running water injection too. of course, that power is available straight from idle up to redline. that is like 2500, and is a roots type supercharger. the centrifugal superchargers will have some lag associated with them.

there are a couple turbo kits. flyryde is in the development stage for one. i think his manifold will have a flange matched to the gt28 "disco potato" turbo. its a ball bearing turbo, which increases its efficiency by a lot. you got the alpine turbo kit, with its tiny turbo, sub-par fuel management, and its restrictive & ugly manifold(but looks like it could withstand a nuclear explosion).

buy the book scotssee mentioned above. it is a must if you are ever thinking about turbo charging your car.
