inherited 1953 Corvette

I recently inherited a 1953 Corvette. Visually, all indications are that it is in great condition. I am told that it ran well, around 7 years ago, before my father-in-law's health problems started (he passed away last December). It's been sitting unused in my in-laws garage for the past 7 years.

I'm not completely inept, mechanically, but I am a relative novice when it comes to auto repair, beyond routine maintenance. I would love to take on the task of getting this car running again, but I'm not even sure where to start.

Could any of you suggest to me some references that might point me in the right direction?

Thanks.

Also, it's not for sale.

1st.....Sorry about your father in law
2nd... congrats on the car... I always jab at my dad for trading in his 67 Corvette for a damn Jeep!!!

Anyway if it has not been started for over 7 years the gas in the tank could be totally shot...it can turn to varnish....so you may have all kinds of fuel related problems from the tank up to the fuel pump.

Goto Corvettefever.com and check out the technical pages. You may be able to do a search for "storage" or something like that on the page and get a load of good answers on where to start....
