starter problems
I have a 96' Aurora, that has had a starter problem for over 2 years!
The car always starts, but sometimes takes 15-20 cycles of the ignition switch. Randomly (approx every 20 starts) all you get is a loud click from under the hood. Sometimes you can hold the ignition sw in the start position & it will start other times you have to cycle the ignition sw. You always get the solenoid click. Eventually it cranks the engine perfectly normal, & won't act up again for a week or so. I have changed the starter & checked & tightened all the starter cables.I have never got a message on the DIC. We have 2 ignition keys, the problem occurs with either key. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions or ideas as to what my problem might possibly be. |

Can't say for sure but, it sounds like you have a problem with your ignition switch/cylinder.

I believe the ignition sw is ok, since every time it is turned to the start position, the car either starts or a click from the starter solenoid is heard.

Just make sure your grounds are all intact and making good contact.
