System Hookup to Stock Radio

Well for any of you who might be wondering, I just tested out hooking up an amp and subs to the stock deck and it works. Just had to buy an adapter for the AUX plug on the front of it for the RCA cables. Now I just have to find a non-permanent power source for the remote wire...so it turns on only when the car is on. Anyone have any suggestions there?

Re: System Hookup to Stock Radio

yeah u got a rf module to hook get the rca's for the amp... but ya um for a non-constant power source - use the wire on the radio that only turns on the radio when the radio's power button is pushed on - i thinks its yellow - but let me check for u dude...

If you have the power antenna on your 3s, tap into that wire coming from the back of your stock stereo. Connect to your remote circuit on your amp. It's the same exact signal. (Usually blue)
Most aftermarket stereos only have one wire for remote (blue) and it is used for both an amp turn on and for power antennas.

That wont work right. The power antennae is supposed to power down when not in "radio mode" meaning the power antenna wire looses power when you go to "CD mode"

Stealthee has a point there...

I've been trying to think of what powers on only when the car starts...I was thinking maybe cd changer...but that has a constant power feed so you can open it when the car is off. For now I just wired in a toggle switch to manually shut it on and off. I just can't think of anything that powers on only when the car is on and stays on the whole time....

I need some ideas here...

Also, the thing that sucks about using the stock AUX output plug, I have no volume control on the subs, so it's just set at whatever I have the amp at all the time, but it'll do until I get my VR4 and starting dumping money into it.
