Thumbs up My 04 GTP review (Long)

Well just thought I would post my .02 about the newer Grand Prix. I bought my 04 about a month ago now and have put about 1500 miles on it. I bought my red 04 grand prix GTP with the comp G package. Leather seats and all the options execpt the Navigation thingee. The car had 49000 miles on it "all highway miles" I was told and because it has a hobbs meter on the car (engine timer) with right at 1000 hours on it so 49 mph average speed, so I believed the dealer. I got the car for $14000 and was and is happy. Now what I think of it. I really like the car and wanted one of these, I have a turbo supra and a STS caddy also, traded the caddy for this car. I did my research on these cars and liked the look of it with all the gadgets.
-I love all the buttons that do everything, which is what turned me off of the GTO because there is not enough "stuff" to play with, no sunroof, no HUD,,WTF?
-Things I really like. the ride! firm but not too firm over bumps.
-I love the TAP shifters, great for the hills where I live in that I can down shift to slow down instead of using brakes so much. And the -TAP works GREAT! Does what you want it to do when you want it to! unlike other cars with them!
-The HUD,just cool Love the big truck and fold down seats with the rear doors that open like they do. (83 degrees)
-Like the power of the thing. FAST
Things I dont like so far
-My recycle air is not working! and my Onstar antenna leaks BAD (warrentee will fix that)
-Transmission, NEEDS a 5th gear! and 3rd seems to run out of steam?
-DIC I get trans. temp but no oil pressure/temp??? WTF?
-Should be able to personlize info that gets on the HUD.
-carpet VERY CHEAP, cheapest part of the whole interior, rips EASY
-Stero, Love the thing but needs more bass, dont get any until volume is high.
-Gas mileage, not up to as advertised. 25 highway with no ac is what I get not the 28!(interstate set at 73mph)
overall I do love this car! the most annouying thing to me is that DIC not giving the oil info!
sorry it was long but thought others might want to know?

Re: My 04 GTP review (Long)

yeah I agree, it's pretty stupid they didn't give us an oil pressure guage...

Especailly if it is woman driven(my girlfriend drove a Camaro home without a serpantine belt on and was lucky to not have melted the engine down, she said she thought that since the oil pressure was all the way down, that was good)...

oh and no offense to the knowledgable women drivers...

Re: My 04 GTP review (Long)

Slow down to 60mph on the freeway and I guarantee you'll jump up to 28 instead of 25mpg.

Drag kills your mileage and there's A LOT more drag and thus power required at 73 as opposed to 60mph.
