Easy to do?
I was looking for some cheap easy to do stuff i can do to my cavalier to make it run better, and i am new at working on cars, so far ive changed a horn, done some work with my stereo and changed my air condensor. So im just looking for some easy things i can do to help my car run better and last longer (its a 96 standard cav if that makes a difference) thanks in advance

i dont know what spark plaugs came witht he 96 but i got a 91 and i changed the plugs for bosch plat 2 and ti ran ALOT better, not faster just better in general.. but i dont know maybe the plugs i had were old and failing. a short throw shifter would be the best for u mostly... there freakin awsome 1/3 the shifts! but aloso like 150$ i'd say cold air intake but thats alot to...the car shoudl alredy run great how it is.. just take care of it and use sythetic oil...

CLean the throttle body with cleaner and a tooth brush. (open the valve) Then keep up with fuel, air, oil Filters. new plugs, wires, PCV Valve, keep all fluids clean and freash.

Re: Easy to do?
I see alot of people get in their car, start it, and almost immediatley throw it in reverse or drive and go. Not good. It takes about ten seconds for the oil to circulate and lube all the parts.
Also give it about five or ten seconds to completely idle down before you shut it off, this helps it start smoother. I've heard many times to only use AC Delco plugs, but I have been using NGK V-power for over a year and they work great. Make sure the engine is completely cool before changing them, if you didn't already know that. |

in regards to the last post, another thing to do is let it idle down before putting it in gear (assuming you have an automatic)
