Exclamation Lightweight underdrive pulley

Hey guys, I just recently purchased a lightweight alluminum pulley for my car and I was just wondering if anyone knows anything about these. Do you think I'll be able to feel the difference while driving? Anyone have any experiences with these pulleys? Any input would help. THanks guys.

Re: Lightweight underdrive pulley

Absolutely you'll feel a difference. Did you get the RSM or the FFP one? On a non-modded 3.4, you'll feel a difference of 8 to 10 hp (this has actually been dyno proven). Both of them are a significant reduction of rotational mass at a critical point on the engine. You'll be able to rev faster, and you'll deffinately know that it's there.

Oh thats awesome, but i have the 2.4 liter engine with a 5 speed transmission. Will i still be able to feel the difference with the 4 cylinder?

Re: Lightweight underdrive pulley

Oh I assumed you had a 3.4. Yes, you'll still feel a gain. It should be about a solid 5 hp gain at least. You'll know it's there. Just curious - was it the PFYC pulley?

Re: Lightweight underdrive pulley

No it was actually a BOMZ pulley. Dont knw if you've ever heard of it, but i knw ive never heard of it. I got it off ebay for $60. Not a bad deal for a solid 5hp and quicker revs.

Re: Lightweight underdrive pulley

A pain to pull the factory pully off. You'll need a puller for that. I hav the RSM pully on my 3.4 and i noticed increased revs right off, it has more pickup from a stoped position For Sure!

Re: Lightweight underdrive pulley

i hav never heard of the BOMZ. Where did you pick it up at? It is pretty easy to make an aluminum pully if you hav a mill/lathe, so I'm sure their are quiet a few manufactures'.

Yes, i have heard of them, they make low cost knock offs of other high name parts, like intakes and so on. heres a link to help install your crank pulley. http://www.teamforwardmotion.com/tfm...wer_pulley.htm

Re: Lightweight underdrive pulley

did you read the directions i posted? it has a belt number. It might not be close by i have no idea what the bombz pulley size is, but if it isnt then just get a few different sizes and try them out, and return whatever doesnt work.
