it used to run well
i have a 74 super, and it was doing ok. i had the carb rebuilt by "the man" and it was running just fine. a little rich, but fine. i was showing it to a potential buyer and bragging about how quickly it starts and how she just purrs and purrs. when i went to start it..nope. she refused. now, it won't start for nuthin and no body. what have i done wrong?
it was a touch rich but died before i got to adjusting it. i haven't pulled the plugs or anything yet, could i have fouled them? please?

Sounds like a choke problem.
Make sure the wire to the elec choke didn't come off. Remember the 3 things necessary to fire an internal combustion engine. 1. Fuel 2. Spark 3. Compression All easy to chack. Pull a plug, attach the wire, ground it against the case and have someone crank the engine. Should be a crisp blue spark. Now hold your finger over the open spark plug hole, whilst assistant cranks the engine. Should be enough force to push your finger off the hole. Put it all back together again and pour about 2 tablespoons of gas down the carb throat. It should start. If it starts up and then stalls, your problem is in the fuel delivery. |
