Turbo-ing Model S
Hey guys i recently saw a turbo for F22a, H23 and H22. It is a T3/T04E Turbonetics i think. I have an S model and Id like to turbo it. I know that some will say that it is unsafe and the engine will blow, but on the website it gives you a year warranty. Also it says that it is safe for stock engines. So i dont know...what do you guys say?
i could give the website if requested because i dont want to look like im advertizing. so just ask and ill show you the reference. |

Re: Turbo-ing Model S
The only reason the engine would blow is if you didn't tune it properly. If it were me, i'd do a swap, but if you want to turbo it go ahead.

i have a f22a as well and i've done quite a bit of work to her...and the amount of work you would have to do to even get it to a stock h22 is substantial...the turbo kit and all the extras you need will add up to alot more $$ than an engine swap...how much are you getting this turbo kit for an what does it include?

Re: Turbo-ing Model S
It costs around $3000. and it says it inculudes everything that i need.
NexT what have you done to your car? some pointers would be nice on what works well on our model if you have any performance mods. so far I have a 4" Ram air intake, short shifter and a performance chip. Im thinking about the swap, but I dont have time to actually do it myself, and it prolly costs alot for a Shop to do it. When I do the swap, would i have to replace anything else like the fuel pump and new clutch and stuff? |

And when you do the swap, no, none of that needs to be replaced. I'm going with everyone else. H22 swap > F22 turbo

Re: Turbo-ing Model S
how much would the approximate TOTAL swap cost with all the labor cost from the shop and all the other replacements I would need to make to make my car like new, with a bigger engine.

An H22 (Motor, Tranny, ECU) at hmotorsonline is $1950. How much it will cost to swap in will depend on the shop. And you won't have to make any modifications to fit an h22 into your prelude, seeing as an h22 is technically no bigger than an f22 (They both displace 2.2 liters). Also, h22's came in preludes to begin with, so there is no need to get motor mount kits of any type. Its a fairly direct swap.
