no ABS light but constantly on

hi it seems that no mechanic knows what is wrong with my car. I've had my wheelbearings fixed and now my ABS is kicking in when i'm about to stop (a complete stop) on a dry road. It's annoying. It's at a shop right now, they're supposebly going to use a scanner on it or something to see what it is. I think it's my ABS..this is the 3rd car I've heard of with this problem. There should be a recall for this problem.

Re: no ABS light but constantly on

Welcome natalie1031. I too feel Grand Ams 99+ should be recalled. For the hub/bearing always go out, and the Intakes blow gaskets way to often.

The ABS is always kicking in. You may notice it more though just because you had them Hub(s) replaced. So is the ABS light still On? You may hav something else going on if the ABS is lit on the dash. Have you bottomed out the brake pedal? That will trip the ABS light.

The only time I hav had trouble is when its wet outside, and you are going 10mph or slower. The wheels will just sliiiide right into the car in front of you. POW! Their goes the air bags too... XI

Re: no ABS light but constantly on

i finally got my car back and it's fixed! A little ove $400 later. It was the right wheelbearing that was causing this problem. So now my mechanic that fixed it gave me the other bearing that the other mechanic had installed and wants me to return it. My bf is the one who bought the first one then had to bring that one back to get another one because that first one was bad so now i'm stuck with a bad wheelbearing that no one has a receipt for. REALLY REALLY SUCKS!
