15" to 16" rims Suburban?

Hi all, are there any disadvantages or advantages to putting 16" rims on my 97 1500 2wd suburban? The stock 15's just seem to small for this size truck. Any suggestions would be appreciated, Thanks,--Paul

Re: 15" to 16" rims Suburban?

Depending on the type of metal that the wheel is made of you can add weight by going to a larger rim but 1in. should not make that much difference as far as weight goes. then when you go to larger rims you decrease the amount of sidewall on the tire (if you keep the same overall dim.) which will effect your ride or if you go to a larger tire you will increase the overall dim. and this will have slight effect on your speedo and can effect your milage if you go to large. hope this helps a little. Good luck!

also going to the 16" rims will give you a higher load range then the 15".....
