I have a 1996 Town Car "Door panel removal" process on my webpage that may give you some clues for your car ![]() Basically you unscrew the door pulls first. The panels are held to the door with plastic christmastree fasterners. Autoparts stores sell a tool for this, it's basically a screwdriver/prybar with a fork end. The tool slips between the door and door panel, the fork end feels around (using your finesse) to get around each christmastree fastener, then a prying action pulls the panel from the door. There are many fasterners, about every 8" or 10" around the edge of the door panels so you will repeat this feeling/prying process many times until all the fasteners are pulled out of the door. With the door panel removed, it should become obvious what failed to keep the switch assembly in place. Maybe you can improve the design a bit ![]() My web page -- Door Panel link is in the right column Caution ! If you dont use finesse you can pull the fasteners from the door panel and damage the panel, their made of fiberboard. If you break some fasteners, have no fear their available at every auto parts store.
