DTC P1298 at a roadblock..anyone help?
hello, I have a 97 civic dx that has been giving me a code P1298 for about a week and a half. It started right as Katrina passed through, however I really dont think that had anything to do with it. There was no damage or flooding to the car. If this code has come up for anyone pls throw me some ideas, I am at a roadblock on what to try. I have tested the the PGM-FI Main Relay. and reset the ecm/pcm. fuel pump does send fuel, however I have not checked the actual pressure. I have also checked to make sure the injectors are getting voltage.
symptoms.... Car started, ran very rough (like it was starved for fuel) for a minute or so, then died...hasnt started since. |

Re: DTC P1298 at a roadblock..anyone help?
electric load detector circuit high voltage.
most obvious cause is fuse related. check your under dash fusebox for a 7.5A alternator fuse. is it blown? if it is, replacing it will only lead to it blowing again. most likely cause would be a power wire grounding out.

I've got a 98 dx and I'm getting the same code P1298, and am wondering how to fix it? I know this is an old post, but please let me know if you have ideas for me.
Thanks |

Re: DTC P1298 at a roadblock..anyone help?
I had the same problem on my 97 civic hatchback. It turned out that a wire on the harness that goes under the intake was grounding out and popping my 7.5a alternator fuse. There are two plugs, they look like dummy plugs, but there not, they are actually the splices for a number of grounds and power wires. They are on a bracket and if the plugs come off of it they will be cut by the bracket and ground out. Check there if you still have this problem after replacing the fuse. If you have any more trouble with it just ask.

Re: DTC P1298 at a roadblock..anyone help?
Thanks for all the replies, but as someone noted, the problem is solved. Good call though, it was the wire harness (actually the wire leading to it) Since the fix no worries. I still have to replace my exhaust manifold though

Yes, I know I'm a little late, but no one gave a proper reply to his question so even though I'm late, at least someone who looks up this problem may find an answer. So I'm not dumb, OK? I'm just slow! Ha ha!
