Misfire consequences

What happens if a misfire goes ignored for a long period of time. Anything serious?

Re: Misfire consequences

While the missfire is happening you will pump raw fuel into the combustion chamber, which in turn will ruin the catalytic converter.

Why would you continue to drive it like this anyway.

Re: Misfire consequences

damage to the cat is about the only short term consequence.

Or all that raw fuel can contaminate the oil, cause lack of lubrication in the cylinder walls, foul plugs...who knows what else.
IMO: do not drive a car for long with a missfire. unless it's a real emergency.
