Coolant disappearing
My '95 1.0L looses about a quart of coolant every 300 - 400 miles. No leaks can be found. The coolant stays clean (no oil) and the oil is clean (no coolant). There is no evidence of a leak at any of the hose connections, the water pump (front and rear), the radiator, or the heater core. No bubbles in the coolant when the engine is running. Runs fine otherwise and doesn't overheat (unless I let the coolant get too low). Seems to be getting progressively worse. It originally took 2 months to loose the coolant (3,000 miles or more), then 1 month (1500 miles) now only a little more than a week. Still no signs of a leak or a blown gasket. Any other clues to look for? I'll be doing a compression check as soon as I can find my gauge (that may take a while).

I would suspect a pinhole in the radiator, or perhaps the rad cap is no good. If the headgasket is leaking, it's leaking slow enough that the compression test won't show you anything. I'd find some of that UV leak detection stuff and go from there. That would be your best bet.

Re: Coolant disappearing
I used the dye and found the leak. It's leaking where the coolant inlet tube plugs in behind the water pump. Am I right that that's just an o-ring seal there?
