Exhaust system compatibility

I have a question about an exhaust system I am looking at picking up.

I am considering upgrading my cat-back, finally. Anyway, I have a 2.5" DP and 2.5" high flow cat.

Is it possible to bolt up a 3" catback or is there some modification involved? Such as this one:

Re: Exhaust system compatibility

Almost every exhaust system uses diffrent flanges. Worst case senario it will cost you $50-75 for a muffler shop to cut & weld a 3in-2.5 reducer and 2 matching flanges, and install the system.

I have the tsudo apexi n1 clone. And I have a meagan 3 in downpipe and mine bolted up just fine. I didn't have to make any modifications and I was able to use the same exhaust hangers as well. The worst case senario is that you might have to replace one of those hangers. But other than that you should be good.

Only way to find out is buy and try to put it on.

The Megan d/p has a 3in flange. His highflow cat flanges is probably the size of the stock catback. unless it's modified. The best thing to do is buy the 3in catback, and replace the cat with a testpipe and have a matching flange welded to the end of the testpipe to fit the new catback.

Just keep the cat, stock exhaust for emmision testing.

yeah but even though the piping is different sizes the flanges should be the same size. How else would aftermarket catback exhaust bolt up to stock downpipe/cat?

Re: Exhaust system compatibility

If both the cat and catback have the same stock matching flanges everything would be fine. But, who would want a 2.5in exhaust that reduced to a 2.25in at the flange?? Cut, Weld! IMO
