Buying GT-R Tomorrow!

I can't hold out any longer...

Talked to the dealer last night and he is going to the auction tomorrow. It's 11,200,000 Yen or $10,170 for a 1991 R32 GT-R with 93,000 km.

Their agent looked at it and it is in good condition with no accident history and no oil leaks. Mechanical inspection is tomorrow, so we will see if it is up to par.

Owner kept it stock except for Nismo 17 inch wheels, and aftermarket muffler. Still has the stock tape deck!

Wish me luck! Might be a week or more before I can take delivery and get some pictures up.

Al,

Cool

Post pics.

Stock is better, at least you know it has not been ragged out.

Dealer has the car and is shipping it this weekend. It will be in Monday, but due to a Japanese Holiday their government offices are closed so I can't get temp plates or exchange US $ for Yen. Guess I won't be driving a GTR till Tuesday.

Gotta keep telling myself patience is a virtue!

I can't believe it's Friday already and still haven't driven my GTR yet...

I got to see it and I was just amazed. I could not believe a 14 year old car could look so good. Man it really reminded me of my 1987 LX 5.0L Mustang. Almost te same lines, but some how more mean and purposeful. Just beautiful!

Due to paper work Snafus and yet another Japanese holiday today, I won't be driving till Tuesday. The anticipation is killing me. Well at least I got to sit in it!

Man I wish I was on drugs! It's actually job induced sleep deprevation. We got a Typhoon head our way, so i am working the weekend too!

Back to the GTR. It is truely beautiful, and it is really only the lines that remind me of the stang. (Keep in mind it's been like 10 years since I sat in one, and my memories are still fond! It's just that a GTR doesn't remind me much of a Corvette, more of a Fox body stang look but better. Mechanically, it is really a work of art. And to think they were building the R32 GTR back in 1989? Very impressive, compared to my 1989 mustang.

Just out of curiosity, do you know what a 1989 R32 GTR went for brand new?

Hopefully I'll be driving Tuesday night. Right now I don't have a car. I had to sell the other one before I could register the GTR on base. Now due to paperwork and holidays I am walking! (Laughin' all the way of course!)

Later,

AL

$45k roughly, and it really shows when you take one apart

It's here!

Finally it's here!

Wow, much more sexy and beautiful in person! Truely awsome car, even though 14 years old!

First impressions:
- Very solid and very fast!
- feels small and narrow in a good way
- very heavy clutch
- very heavy steering
- excessively heavy brake???

Any ideas why the above photo won't post???

If you enter the url it takes you to the page...

Also the AF gallery was a hopeless feedback loop for me. I could upload, but no pictures would show up. hmmmm...

Re: Buying GT-R Tomorrow!

I can't get that link to work.

Go to Sony image station, I have used that before, to get the images to up load.

There we go! Photo bucket to the rescue...

Man the pictures just don't do it justice! Funny how a car can have so much more presence when you see it in person.

I really like the size of the car too. It feels just about right. I'm 6'4'' and still have head and leg room to spare. Although the back seat is a joke... only a legless midget could sit back there!)

Handling is very flat and very stable. I'd love to autocross the car! I think it has stiffer than normal springs and has been lowered slightly. I can feel quite a bit of bumpsteer. Could be the alignment though, as the inside edges of the front tires are bald.

Nissan "Red Stage" has got her now for a check-up. She needs some new front CV boots, fluids change, and some new rubber.

Can't wait to get her sorted out a little more. She runs like a scalded dog!
