Exclamation yet another problem with the dreaded 2.3 engine...

so after i fixed the mini problem with my alternator, batter and starter i found a new problem, besides not having any power after 2500-2800 rpm like i hit a fuckin brick wall...but i digress...my transmission which has 77 and change on it same as the engine, seems to be slipping, this just happened today on my way back from work, i have 2 jobs so i have a hard time allowing myself an hour or so to check things out... the damn car stays in 1st gear and does not shift untill i either let off the gas enough to drop revs and force it to shift or shift on the fly... what the hell can i do about this shifting problem besides get a new tranny.i will admit i do need a tune up and whatnot...possibly some tranny fluid, but lets pretend i didnt say that. please help me im in soo much need.......omg!!!theres another problem...when the car is at a lower rpm range the exhaust rattles like a mother fucker and it has gotten to the point where i have a gigantic stereo in it just so i dont have to hear it anymore... if someone has any ideas or knows what to do about the rattling or shifting please let me know or you can email me at [email protected]k you guys and everyone has helped me so much so far i love u guys, lol peace

wow dude im sorry but it really sounds like the tranny has went south....and im not sure if thats your exhaust rattling....get under the car and in different areas of the exhaust try to move it back and forth to see if it is it.

If it is your exhaust then id (if it was me) just rig up some wire to hold it in place better. I mean this thing doesnt sound like your taking it to shows to do the hillbilly fix

It could just be the heatsheild on the catalytic converter. Thats an easy fix. Put a couple large hose clamps together and squeeze.

I've got a complete running 302/c4 you may be interested in, wouldnt hurt either of them to be rebuilt though.
PM me if interested.

YEp C4 is one tough auto ....

you could also look to your local salvage yard...there should be tons of auto and manual trannys to be had.
