Cruise control

I have a 94 4.6 Bird, and I was wondering if anyone can help me with a cruise problem,

I have had the car 3 months, and when I first got it, the cruise worked, although when I turned it on, it felt like the pedal was being pushed - and let go - pushed - and let go. Although it was maintaining the selected speed, it was very "surgy".

A short time after I got the car, I had some work done to the gearbox to cure a shudder problem. When I got the car back, the cruise didn't work. No lights on the dash, nothing. THe horn still works, and when you press the cruise buttons at the same time, (as recommended elsewhere on here as a test) that also makes the horn go off so I'm fairly sure the steering connections are ok. The fuses are all ok as the other items using the cruise fuse still work.

I read in my haynes book that cruise problems are normally vacum pipe problems, electrical connection problems or related the control module.

Can anyone tell me where to start looking for the vacum pipes that control the cruise? I've looked at the engine and can't see anything amiss. All looks ok near the throttle body. Are there any cruise pipes near the gearbox that could have been disturbed when that was fixed? Where is the cruise control module?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Cruise control

Check all of the electrical connections on the transmission. The vehicle speed sensor is on the tailshaft housing and if it isn't a good connection the cruise control won't work. Take it back to the shop that did the work and tell them that it stopped working after it was in their shop.

i agree with bird 100% if it was in shop working and out not working it related to what they did -my shop would back its work up completely-i make sure all my employees fix any oversight at no charge---any reputable shop would
