h22a4 in a 92 si need help

im about to put an h22a4 into a 92 si,
should i use a p13 or a "p5p"(from an h22a4)?
the car is auto...
also will both ecu's work with most injectors

and will the hoses reach the fuel injector? b/c the one is on the opposite side...

and will the atts mess anythin up? or will i need to do sumthin with the atts wires since i dont have it? (wire up dead ends?)

is there anything else i should know b4 i swap it?

also the h23 is a pain to get out, will the h22a4 fit in the exact same way? (tilt it the same way)?

any advice at all would help, i dont kno exactly what im doin

If you have a H22 with ATTS then keep it a 5speed. I dont think the ATTS is compatible with an auto trans.

To use the p13 you need to use jumper. The motor is OBD2, but the P13 is OBD1.

Good luck with the ATTS, never heard of anyone having successfully swapped one into a 4th gen. Also, ATTS isn't something that you add on or is "compatible" with trannies, as honda_racing101 is saying. A tranny is either ATTS or it is not. Simple as that. And no auto trannies were ever ATTS.

The h22 fits in exactly the same way as the h23.

i wish i could keep it a 5spd

but im leavin the trans in there...and its a 4spd auto

im assuming the new engine will bolt up considerin i dont kno what the hell atts has (like actual parts)


well i found an h22a4 ecu
also the wires on the new engine dont reach the ecu, and so have to go thru the firewall via the old wires
then plug back into an obd2 ecu....

{ from obd2 engine -> obd1 wires -> obd2 ecu }

will the wires connect right? are they physically compatible?

can i manually wire the engine to ecu ??

yeah, this is the jumper that I'm talking about. It a harness that lets you plug in OBD1 to OBD2 and/or vice versa.

Ok...

To give you proper feed back I need a little information.

If you have an H22A4, that should be the engine from a BASE Model Prelude.

I thought there was a different designation for the SH type block... which is made to bolt up the the ATTS unit.

The BASE Model H22A4 97-01 Prelude ECU is a P5M, not a P5P so far as I'm aware.

The P5M will have a connector that goes to the auto tranmission on it. The problem is, if you are not using the SS Auto transmission from a 97-01 Prelude, then you're going to have to us the ECU from 92 Prelude.

The H22A and the H22A4 series engines differ PRIMARILY in that:

- The H22A is an OBD-I engine
- The H22A is a closed deck motor (better for boosting)
- The H22A4 is a open deck motor (lowers NOx emissions)

In order to make the H22A4 an OBD-I motor, all you need to is swap the distributor and I think the CPS (crank position sensor).

Either way, when you put an H22A in a 97-01 Prelude, you need to transfer over the intake manifold, the exhaust head, the distributor, and the oil pump assembly.

So it's probably the reverse if you are putting an H22A4 in an earlier model prelude.

I put a JDM H22A motor into my 98 Prelude without issue and kept it OBD-II... so the reverse will probably work perfectly if you use the H22A ECU from a 92.

I know its pretty late for me to be saying this, but you could've saved yourself a lot of trouble by getting an OBD1 h22. Although, i'm sure theres a special circumstance involved in you having an OBD2 h22 (probably got it for a pretty good price).

and yea... i got the engine cheap...but it will even out in the end
