laquer-enamal clears, any difference?
So, what's the difference between the two once applied? I've only use Tamiya's (and love it) but I'm now considering Gunze Sangyo mainly because of fear of ruining my decal job. How do they compare in shine, drying times, paint hardness and yellowing over time? Can GS be waxed? How long after applying? I'm hoping that all you builders who have used both can help me.

Enamels take a very long time to dry. For this reason, it will take them a really long time to be as hard as lacquers, and will be longer before you can polish it. The main reason people use lacquers over all other paints is because of how fast and hard they dry. A rule of thumb for clears - yellow on the bottle, yellow in time, clear in the bottle, clear forever. That's hard to tell in a can, but you can't say lacquers won't yellow and enamels won't, because some of each will and some won't.

Exactly what Gunze Sangyo paint are you referring to? As I recall they have two types of clear in cans, one is a lacquer and the other an acrylic. Called Mr Topcoat or similar. I've used their bottled Super Clear through an airbrush and it is great stuff, a lacquer, but with at least with the airbrush, much less aggressive than Tamiya TS-13.
Also Gunze Sangyo changed their name to GSI Creos a few years ago now.
