some what to do and a little what NOT to do.

About 3 weeks ago i am out driving past my age curfew (im 16 and in florida that is like 11:00 unless for busness purposes).
I am goind down the interstate when i get a call...lets just say it is quite urgent and not go into details.
I know the next exit isnt for another 10 miles and seeing that traffic is clear on the opposite side for about 3 miles i cut across the median. Aparently some of thoes headlights i saw coming over the hill where of an off duty policemen.
Now 3 miles isnt a whole lot and i wasnt in a speed machien but i get in a completely empty lane and i have more than enough time to hit 105...
Now the cop paces me at "95" (he was a cool guy despite the circumstances) though he had to do 115 to catch up to me enough to flip on the lights
So i know im fucked so i pull over at the next exit, go through proper procedure, place it into park, cut the iginition, and place both arms on the steering wheel.
He aparently didnt think it was enough at the time, the second the licenst hit his hands the door was open and before i knew it i was in hand cuffs on the ground.
a sort of ask questions later tecnique.
so i explain what all was going on in the back of a cop car...thoes mudder fukers hurt too.
So he writes the ticket for 85 in a 70 and failing to obey posted traffic signs (ie keep off median signs)
all in all the total came to over $300.
So i took the BDI course and got 3 of the 6 points taken off of my license and paid the fine...what fun...
well a word to the wise..
KEEP OFF THE MEDIAN, THAT ALONE IS A $115 FINE IN FLORIDA...

Oh man, if I was polite and had nothing on my record that should elicit such a response, FUCK I'd be PISSED if I got thrown on the ground and cuffed. I'd sue the whole damn department.

Then again, I live in Canada, no suing here

of course, with his license restriction, he was technically doing all of that without a license. I think they'd be a bit more lenient with someone with a full license. Also, its generally not a good idea to drive recklessly after license curfew.

Throwing to the ground and cuffing a SIXTEEN year old is not really reasonable, with or without a full license. Is he REALLY a danger to society driving past his curfew? Even a bit of speeding on an empty road and going through a median shouldn't elicit such a response.

Re: some what to do and a little what NOT to do.

it wasnt reckless, which is why i wasnt placed under arrest, the cop said so himeslef, one lane, the left one, and an open lane to my right, no changing lanes and what not.
As far as the license restrictions go, as i understand them, if i am to be pulled over i am to be sent straight home or have a parent pick me up, no points can be assesed in such a situation.
it wasnt really a throw, it jsut all happened withing 1-2 seconds, he said he is a drug cop and never goes on patrol, the only reason he pulled me over is because in most cases in that area people dont cut across the median and then go that fast unless there is a good reason, good reson for them being drugs.
i was thinking of taking it to court but because he let me off 20mph and had the option of arresting me because of my speed but did not i didnt want to waste his or my time.
but what pisses me off was semi's headlights where not fading at all...meaning they had to be running 95-100mph. i didnt even think thoes things would scoot that fast (i didnt think a scion xB would scoot that fast) but IMO a 60,000lb 50' vehicle barleing down the highway at 95mph with a driver that has probably been on the road for ups of 14hrs is far more dangerous than a vehicle barely tiping the scale around 3000 and 8-10ft long...
