air conditioner

have 00 300m and the air conditioner only works when it wants to. So i know it is charged . Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do or try before i have to take it to a garage.

Does it blow and not get cold, or not blow at all? I have a '99 and I've had lots of electrical problems including the climate control panel. In the past, it would blow hard for no apparent reason. Right now the blower doesn't blow at all, for AC or heat. Fuse checks out ok, but I suspect it's in the panel again.
