I've found the following site to be very informative:
http://www.dpreview.com

and the following will give you some idea of price:
http://www.internetcamerasdirect.co.uk
(Sorry it's a UK Site, but it'll give you a good idea on pricing).

...Generally, go for a manufacturer that also has plenty of experience in the SLR/35mm film Camera field. (Canon, Nikon, Minolta, Kodak etc.)

I bought a FujiFilm 4800 Zoom, and love it to bits. (You can't go far wrong with a Fuji, either).

Having a 35mm camera too, I just wish the Fuji had more "manual" controls. (I find I can be more "creative" with my 35mm camera).

It certainly seems to hold true that "more megapixels are better (read: expensive)", but what other functions do you need?

How much were you looking to spend?

Is it mainly for use in photographing your models and publishing them on the web, or do you want to do more with it?

If you are more interested in model building, and only want the odd snap to put online, then go for a cheap digicam.

If you know someone who owns a scanner, go to your local pharmacy and buy a disposable "fun camera" for a few dollars, take plenty of pics, and have the film developed.

Regards
Mark

at 0.31 megapixels for <$90 It'd certainly get your pictures online, but don't expect too much in the way of quality.

Thx Tyrell~ thats good advice~
Ya i have a scanner but buyin those Disposable ones is just liek using a 35mm~ have to wait till all teh film is used up before u can develope the pictures~! I want to let u guys c pic as i am still workin on the model~

My point to buy a Digital Camera is mainly for Model~ but if we get one my whole family will use it~ we go on travel often~ so a better megapixel one is better i guess
I am lookin for a 3 megapixel. wat is consider cheap for a 3 mp?
Thx for ur help~

No problemo. That's what we're here for.

Ever heard of 1hour processing???

When I use my 35mm camera, I drop the films into my nearest Boots pharmacy in the morning, and pick them up during lunch...

...If you're *that* desperate to get the pics online, you can use up the spare film by taking photos of anything (Film is cheap). You never know, you might get some interesting photgraphs. (And a new hobby!)

That's settled, then.

*TRUE* 3 Megapixel cameras can't be considered cheap at all. You'll be looking at paying CD$800+ for even a low-spec one. Fuji (again) have a way of using the CCD diagonally, to collect more information (emulating a higher MP CCD).

If price *NEEDS* to be kept low, see if you can find a cheap Fuji 4700 Zoom. It's effectively 1 step down from the one I bought and has all the same functions, in a different case.

For a list of reviews on this model (mainly favorable), try this link:
User Reviews

Sample images, taken using this model can be viewed here:
4700z Review samples

One of the cheapest places I've found that still has this camera was listed in my previous post:
http://www.internetcamerasdirect.co....pecs.htm#specs

If you tell me how much (maximum) you want to spend, I can give you a better idea...

Regards
Mark
