Question Confused

I'm gonna be getting my shocks pretty soon but am confused about the mixed information I'm getting. On 3SX, they say that certain shocks will fit my car ('94 SL with ECS). But if I find the same shocks somewhere else, say Summit Racing, it's the same part number but the description is only for cars with "Drivetrain: AWD." Also, for the front shocks, it says that it's not for adjustable suspension. So yeah, a bit confused....help!?!

Front: part # 335013
Rear: part # 341184

the AWD cars should have the same front shocks as the FWD cars, but slightly different shocks in the rear. I've read up on those doing AWD conversions that they have to make custom brackets because the angle of the shock towers are different. Anyways, my suggestion, if you want to get brand new ECS replacements, order them from www.mentormitsubishi.com, they sell cheaper than i can get at whole sale at my local dealership. If you want non-ECS replacements, then get obviously, the KYB GR2's http://www.tirerack.com/suspension/S...lar=&brand=all

Re: Confused

Yeah okay, but what about my question....will they fit or not? Basically, who's right? 3sx or other people? I'm leaning more towards 3sx seeing that they've had a lot more experience on our cars but wanna get you guys opinions. Also, I should be able to order anywhere right as long as the part numbers are the same!?!

I'd call 3sx and ask exactly why it wont fit. I get the impression that it will but you need to swap out the strut top for a non-ECS one.

Re: Confused

I think i'll still need to stick with the ECS strut mounts even if it'll be disabled because the non-ECS won't fit...

DAMMIT SLADE! they do make replacement shocks for the SL,
will someone with an SL with upgraded suspension just help out......please?
I know for sure they make performance gas shocks that will fit! I used to see a guy with a white SL with tockico adjustable shocks around the university, I just dont know how the crap to contact him now but they do make em!

or just break the bank and get some ground-control man, I got it on the Starion and it is all that and a bag of chips!

one more negative outburst and me an rocker will fly to SoCal and you!

most people go with the GR-2s and ground controls. 3SX should know, but like i said, the fronts should be the same on both but the rears are probably different because the rear subframes b/t the AWD and FWD cars are different

Tokico doesnt make bolt on struts for the 3s. 3si guys have been trying to find upgrades for the FWD for a LONG time now.

LMAO Uh, I think we were talking about two different things here. I was referring to strut mounts, not the shocks.

Anyways, let me pose my question another way...as long as both places have the same part number, they should be the same item, right? It's just that sometimes, different places have different numbering/coding systems. Because on the 3sx site, it says they'll fit: http://www.3sxperformance.com/suspension-vertical.asp (3/4s of the way down)

Oh and Musashi, I'm in the Bay Area now (SF region) so you guys don't fly to the wrong area. Hehe

^ smart ass!
yes, if the part number is the same then it is the same anywhere. some stores have inventory numbers that vary but the manufacturer part number will be the same everywhere.

Stealthee, if what you are saying is true (and it always is , damn know-it-all) then he probably had them modiffied or had GroundControl. all I remember was he popped the hood one night and I saw the strut bar and the billet cover over the strut top and the knob with three settings. I asked, he said it was adjustable shocks from tockico.

Slade, seriously, compare how much you are looking to spend to a stock suspension and how much a grouncontrol kit will run ya.
