2001 Elantra Wheel Bearing problem
My 2001 Elantra (Ontario Canada) has what sounds like a front wheel bearing problem - buzzing which varies according to speed and on left/right cornering. It's only done 74000 kms (46000 miles). Has anyone had to replace a front wheel bearing? If so was it covered under warranty. Should I expect this to be covered under warranty? Could it be something else e.g. from the transmission?
If not covered under warranty, have you replaced the front wheel bearing(s?) yourself and did you need anything special to do it? |

Re: 2001 Elantra Wheel Bearing problem
HI
My 2000 did the same thing at about the same mileage. The hyundai service rep knew it after driving 10 feet. I think for me it was warranty as i had extended and it was under 100km. |

'96 Elantra, 90K miles
I just had my bearing replaced at 85K. I had a noise like a cricket in my right front wheel. Immediately the dealer had me replace the bearing (which was not under warranty and costed me over $300) and the noise did not go away. Bleh. |

Everyone needs to make sure that the boot that holds the grease for those bearings isnt cracked first...Hyundai might not honor the warranty otherwise..... |
