Hi everyone, just signed up today and I think this forum is awesome!
My company car, a '97 Galant V6 (engine code 6A12), recently suffered an engine meltdown and a shop replaced the original engine with a 6A10 engine from a 1992 JDM Lancer MX. The 6A10 is a 1.6 liter DOHC V6 engine that is visually identical to the 6A12. My problem is that my water pump has started to leak and needs replacement. Will the water pump from a 6A12 fit the 6A10? I asked the local parts shop, and all they could say is that the 6A12 (2.0) and 6A13 (2.4) share the same water pump. They couldn't tell me anything about the 6A10 because that engine never officially came out here. I'm assuming that the 6A1x family engines share certain ancillary components such as the water pump, power steering pump and alternator. The 6A12 water pump is readily available. I will purchase it as soon as someone with experience in this matter confirms that the water pump for the 6A1x family of engines is interchangeable, which I think it is. Thank you in advance for all your replies and comments. Best regards, Steve |

Re: Water pump for 6A1x family engines
The 6A13 is 2.5.
AFAIK the 6A13 and 6A12 are very similar and share many ancilliaries. Gearboxes are interchangeable between the two, for example. I have never heard of the 6A10 before, so I can't help! Sorry! |
