off-topic/ best gasoline to use.
When I first started driving many moons ago, a buddy of mine showed me an automotive magazine that had ran a series of tests on different brand gas. as it turns out Shell was the worst and at the top of the list was Chevron. this was back in 1994.
I remember last year Shell got in trouble over an excessive amount of lead in thier gas that damaged many cars and would clog up fuel systems. It ended up in a load of law-suits and big losses for the company Have you guys ever wondered about the gas brand you choose? My dad always goes for the cheapest he can find, I rather spend a buck more and be safe but I have spend the last hour at work researching for a more up to date gas-quality comparison but so far nothing. anyone know of any more recent comparisons?

Re: off-topic/ best gasoline to use.
I used to work for Shell about 2 years ago, and they made me go to boring ass meetings to 'learn us about some gas', I did my own research and found they are better than they used to be but not the top by far. I always use 76 gas, it has performed the best for me in my Stealth. I would not use any mom and pop gas/mini mart gas. Chevron and Shell are alright (Chevron is better than Shell), but for me what worked best was 76 gas, better sounding engine, and also a little bit better mileage (not much difference in the milage though).

Re: off-topic/ best gasoline to use.
hmm, well generally BP gas is perty nice, but I know for a fact that CITGO has really bad stuff... I put some of that stuff in my minivan, and the gas itself smelled wierd and it turned out there was water in the gas. Well one fuel filter later, we never went to citgo again... this was a year ago, so stuff could've changed, but I've never gone to a citgo staiton again...

Yep, lead was removed a long time ago.
I use Husky's Ethanol blend. 90 octane. TMD |

Re: off-topic/ best gasoline to use.
I use to go to some no-name gas station when I had my old cars, but for my GT, it's seen nothing but Chevron. I didn't know that it was ranked very high (until now) but I was sold to that Techron stuff so I've always gone there.

Re: off-topic/ best gasoline to use.
I 've heard a lot of stories about people using Wawa gas and it screwing up their fuel injectors. I won't buy any gas from there.

Re: off-topic/ best gasoline to use.
In my town Shell and Chevon use the same refinery and just use different additives (my uncle worked for shell).
Personally I switch between the two as they use different detergents and figure what one doesn't clean the other will. Both now meet Top Tier gasoline requirements (it's 4 manufacturers got together and specified minimum requirements of gasoline... If you are wondering I think it was GM, BMW, Honda and toyota) http://www.toptiergas.com/retailers.html |

Re: off-topic/ best gasoline to use.
Don't know which is best, but I avoid Mobil/Exxon like the plague just for personal reasons. Generally Sunoco is pretty expensive, and right now, I don't need their 94 octane. So I usually get Wawa or Hess if I'm in NY. Now though, Lucas Oil has taken over literally half the gas stations in my area in just the last month.
