95 Passat GLX VR6 ignition problem?

I got in the car yesterday started it up fine like usual and about 10 sec. later the engine died and my radio and all dash lights shut off but my lights stayed on. When I tried to restart the car I got nothing. None of the accessories turned on while the key was in the accessory position. Could this be a problem with the ignition?

i have the same exact car bro, look at this user name, i had a prob with my ignition, mine was hard to start all the time and i had to jiggle the key to start it. then one day it stopped working, so my firend hot wired my car, then took the wires for the ignition, starter ground and all that b/s, and hooked it up to a push button switch. plus the accesories wire had to be hooked up or nothing would work. if i were you ide get someone to look at the ignition and accessories wire to make sure nothing came undone.

This brings back bad memories. Ignition switch and/or key tumbler.
