So i was just wondering if i need to be worried or is the clutch just going out any help would be great. That would suck since i just put the new turbo on. havent even got to test it yet..

Re: crank walk

sounds like it maybe. improper or inconsistent clutch engagagement, if its difficult to shift and clutch pedal sticking in the down position, those all tell tale signs of the dreaded crankwalk. Thrust bearing failure can happen on all years but are more common on late 95-mid 97. If it becomes significant, the crank movement will start to interfer with the (cas) or crank angle sensor which will, in the end destroy it. Time to get a 6 bolt bottom end!!

Re: crank walk

tell me if you hear a faint clicking noise when the clutch is depressed... the noise will be heard on the right side of your engine bay

Sticky clutch is one symptom. Don't jump to conclusions. Have the clutch checked out first, just so you can eliminate that. There was an audio file of what crankwalk sounded like somewhere on here, try searching for it. The sound is almost like a loose exhaust rattling around. After you have the clutch checked out, then we can start digging into the guts.

Re: crank walk

Crank walk will usually not make a noise in the beginning stages of it. It is a slow painful process (USUALLY). Depends on how the car is driven. how long has it been since the car ran last, also you have checked the fluid level right? If the car has been sitting for a while that could have something to do with it unless it did the same thing when it ran. You'll be amazed what a system flush will do to a clutch\tranny. When you get it running, at a stop put it in 3rd and let off. If it dies your clutch is probably alright, if it lunges and jolts like the first time learning to drive a stick, clutch is going bad. You'll know the difference between a bad clutch and c\w.

Re: crank walk

It is not crankwalk until the measured crank end play is over .009 inches. Anything else is just a guess. Of all the motors I crankwalked not one of them had any of the "tell tale clutch symtoms" The only one that ticked was the one that took out the crank sensor, and it only ticked for about 2 days before it would no longer run. And its not just a little ticking like the lifters, its the crank trigger plate smashing the fuck out of the crank angle sensor. It's pretty obvious...

Measure the crank end play and be done with it. I've posted about it before, I am sure it is stickied here somewhere, or at least a link to what I posted at www.racingknowledge.org.

I havent driven the car in over a week. Its has been kind of hard to get into 1st but once the car has been on for a while then there are no problems just at first. I'll be able to tell you i hope tommorrow if there is a noise comming from the right side. Thats is when the ss oil line will be here.. The car was driven by an older women up until febuary of last year. I don't drive hard very often. So after it warms up for 10 mins or so ill go out for a drive and see what the new turbo can do. Pray its not c/w
