Car wont start

I just purchased a 97 Eagle Talon Tsi Awd from a private seller and 10 minutes down the road the car started to lose power. Before i could procede to pull the car over to check tempature and coolant level, the car shut off. I then checked the coolant level and temperature and there was close to no coolant in the tank and the temperature needle was at all the way hot. As a result of this the gas pedal has become stiff and can no longer be pressed down and car wont start after letting engine cool and adding coolant. I then had the previous owner tow it the shop where it was last serviced at. This occured Wednesday and it now being saturday they still havent diagnosed the problem and probably wont be "looked at" until monday. Could you please give me some light on this very dark situation. The wait to find out what is that matter is almost unbearable.

i feel your pain but i dont see how the gas pedal will get stuck from overheating. Does the engine still turn when you turn the key? In either case though if you can still turn the engine at the harmonic balance, it cant be too bad. If not, worst case scenerio, the head gasket could be gone along with the head.
