engine oil in air cleaner
I have a ford f150 1992 with 64,000 miles on it. It is a 5 Liter
V8. Air cleaner is full of oil. Hose from Oil Filler seems to have too much air flow to air cleaner and is blowing the oil up into the air cleaner from the valve cover. How can this be? I noticed there is an air pump on this model Is that the cause for this problem? Please help!!! |

The air pump pumps air to the catylitic converter so it should not be involved. Welcome to the forum. Let us know how you make out |

coming out of this hose. It Will Blow up a quart of oil in about 150 miles.I have never felt this much air come out of an engine. It is a steady strong air flow. Any Ideas? |

Something is amiss. The hose attached to the pcv valve should supply a constant source of vacuum. Check the hose routing against the vacuum hose diagram in the engine compartment.

of the engine on the other side.On the other side of the engine or the other valve cover where you put the oil in, there is a hose that connects under the filler cap and goes to the air cleaner box. this hose is suppling a lot of air pressure to the air filter box and is blowing oil into the box and pluggs up the air filter. If I disconnect this hose from the filter box it has a lot of + air pressure and smokes when the engine is warmed up. I noticed It was a week ago I changed my oil and it is already brown, oil pressure was low, Oil is now very thin. I am afraid that I may have a cracked head or gasket sending hot gasses into the engine. What do you think. |

Something is pressurizing the crankcase. Do a compression check.

Re: engine oil in air cleaner
Sounds like you have a valve not sitting right causing oil to drain into cylinder, when started up the pistons will push the oil back up through the hoses into air filter and burn your oil up at the same time causing it to smoke. I would also do a compression check first just to be sure rings aren't wore out. Good luck!
