Re: rip off or not
Seems high, a quick search on the web shows you can get them around $200.00... which oddly enough is more than what I paid for my entire metro :P

Re: rip off or not
I have a used one you can have for $50 shipped to the lower 48. Very easy to install. Email me if you want it. P.S most mechanics do not install parts they do not buy because they do not make money off the part. Most will say it is because they do not know if the part is good or not and will charge higher rates to install your part over thiers.

cranking problems
sorry gurl, if the motor doesnt crank, changing the distributor will not help.
does the motor move when you turn the key? is it spinning but not starting, or not spinning at all. If it doesnt spin at all when you turn the key, it is not the distributor do your headlights work good (battery) if you have battery power but the motor still doesnt spin, it may be something to do with the transmission shift lockout. I'm not sure if thats exactly what it is called, but there is a mechanism that prevents the car from being started with the transmission in gear... I have read that these sometimes cause a problem. try holding the key in the start position and moving the shifter lever to see if that does anything be careful not to start the car and immediately drive it into something ![]() bob |
