Red Bull Purchases Minardi

Anyone else hear about this purchase? I think this is great for F1, especially given that Red Bull is instrumental in nuturing young F1 talent. Basically this means that Minardi will become the Junior team for Red Bull and opens the doors for drivers such as Scott Speed who could otherwise have a hard time breaking into F1.

Re: Red Bull Purchases Minardi

Yup, looks like this is going ahead. Red Bull sure are making a big investment in F1 aren't they? I wonder if it is really a good thing? Why not concentrate on getting one team up to speed rather than keeping two financially struggling midfielders alive?

Minardi has been renamed Squadra Toro Rosso, Italian for Team Red Bull. Red Bull hasn't officially announced which seats will be filled by which of its drivers, but I'm confident Coulthard and Klien will remain at Red Bull Racing. Liuzzi and Speed will fill the seats at Squadra Toro Rosso and Neel Jani will be the test driver. This arrangement is the most logical based on the drivers experience.
