Re: off the line?

You can get a better launch by holding the brake and giving it a little gas, with your car, only like 750 rpm will be enough, and then let your foot off the brake and floor the gas. However, if your car is anywhere close to stock the taurus WILL beat you. It weighs almost 1000 lbs less and the Duratec V6 has more power than you and the weaker vulcan engine is only down 20 hp to you.

Re: off the line?

the vulcan is a 3.0L OHV V6 with 145 hp, the Duratec is a 3.0L DOHC V6 with 200 hp, the taurus has one of these 2 engines. Keep in mind though that his 305 (which is a V8) was built 10 years before that vulcan was and the technology it was based on is even older. The last 305's built were over 200 hp once they finally put Port Fuel Injection on them. But his car eitehr has a tiny 2-barrel or is TBI.

4-barrel. Took care of that taurus with no problem. Just goes to show, even with outdated technology and a thousand extra pounds, chevy's better.
