I have a 2003 Trailblazer LTZ. My battery was dead this morning. I noticed that the ignition switch seems to be causing the problem. Without the key in the switch if you nudge it towards the on position the battery light and gear shift indicator lights come on. It must drain the battery if left over night like that. Can anyone comment on how difficult it is to replace the ignition switch? Are any special tools needed?
Thanks! |

Re: Ignition Switch Replacement Question?
Gm has had problems with these switches, I would ask for warranty help with this.

Also have had problems in the past with wife's 02 TB. Knock on wood, no problems since last winter. Same scenario: lights, heater, horn, etc. work but won't start. let it set for 1-2 days and it will crank ok. Happened a couple of times. Put in new battery last year needlessly....oh well, hope no future episodes. Good truck otherwise.

Gone
2003 Trailblazer - I just got rid of mine. This 03 had every problem in the books...stabilizer links cracked, hyperactive fan, board burnt out causing the blinkers not to work, taillights kept burning out, replaced ignition switch and starter, lights are haunted in the dash (4WD lights flicker and change by themselves), rattles in the doors, factory brake pads gone around 40,000miles...I won't miss this vehicle at all.
