Cool WIP - Ferrari 355 GT3 Daytona 2000 - open -

Hi,

this is a Scale Production Transkit for the Fujimi Ferrari 355 and Studio 27 decals.

I build this model with open driver door and open engine cover.
In the next weeks I´ll have to do some additional projects, so progress won´t be very much. Nevertheless, I started 2 weeks ago and now see what I did up to now:

this is the Scale Production resin body:

the slots in the engine cover were cut out

the cut-out driver door and scratchbuilt door-surrounding

the door.

Next is the building of an engine ...

That's some pretty impressive work cutting out those slots and the door in resin! I also like the scratchbuilding you've done around the door. Well done!

Hi,

Meanwhile I have several Scaleproduction kits in my collection. The resin is absolutely great, no bubbles, not much to sand away. Wheels are turned alu-rings with etched or crisp styrene inner parts.

Depending on the kit you find further etched, white metal and resin parts, lots of details for the brakes, exhaust ends, fabric seat belts, a sheet of decals (great to work with) ....

Just look at their shop and have a look, quality is outstanding.

Cool, the "Yellow magic"-Ferrari. Thatīs serious decal work you have ahead of you. I always wanted to make this kit, but didnīt have the balls yet to get one!
I assume, you are using a regular F355 for interior and stuff?
Do you have good reference for the engine?

Great work Micha, looks that Scaleproduction makes some very good casts. Must get me one, that BMW CSL looked good but no sign of it
I wouldn't dare to cut those door out

Re: WIP - Ferrari 355 GT3 Daytona 2000 - open -

Looks great so far.

There is one small problem though, the part you cut out off of the a-pilar and roof should remain on the F355.

There is no body line on the 355 there like there is on the 348. This resin body was created from the Fujimi body, and that was not corrected before casting.

Many who have built the coupe have corrected that part, here's the pic from my inprogress build showing the filler there.

I look forward to seeing the rest of your build.

Hi CADguy,

thank you for the tip.

I was cutting the door out and with it the frame around the window. I was very happy, I succeeded without breaking any resin. Then I looked at photos of the real car and saw what you just mentioned . meanwhile the frame is glued back in its place and needs some putty.

Anyway, thanx again

Impressive work indeed, how do you plan to hinge the door?

Keep it up!
